Villa Savoye, a masterpiece designed by Le Corbusier, is compulsory study for every architectural student at university. Other than its famous “5 Points of Architecture” (1. Pilotis, 2. Roof garden, 3. Open floor plan, 4. Long windows, 5. Open façade), I was attracted to its sophisticated circulation when I visited the building. Once the entry doors are opened, visitors will get to the ramp, which is the central heart of the building. From there they will experience the indoor and outdoor spaces in various volumes led by the natural daylight. The views are beautifully geometric and visually appealing. It feels like watching a movie as you make your way to each space. The pops of colour between the prolonged white walls add accents in various places but they do not compromise the balance of the entire dwelling. Additionally, the abundance of daylight and the little terraces provide visitors with pauses along the journey, which acts like transitions in a music piece.
Being excited by the whole experience I had in Villa Savoye, I found it difficult to capture all the motifs until I used my wide-angle lens. Even with my petite body, I question the usability of some narrow spaces. What about your thoughts?

Pilotis, 2. Roof garden, 3. Open floor plan, 4. Long windows, 5.
